Maru is a great little Ethiopian market. The manager was very helpful by explaining ingredients and suggesting recipes (I'm American with 2 Ethiopian kiddos). She was so sweet and encouraging! The store is very small, but has all the Ethiopian cooking staples - most importantly - fresh injera! Maru will be on our routine shopping list from now on!
Amazing meet and customer service Cam really appreciate thank you
My Eritrean partner ran out of some of his back home spices and tea, so I decided to stop by on a day I found myself in southwest Houston. It’s located in a small shopping center with plenty of parking space available. It was my first time here so I didn’t know what to expect, but was able to find all that we needed. I bought a bunch of QUALITY FRESH Berbere, Mitmita, Kibbeh and even Ethiopian loose leaf tea. The guy at the register (my guess maybe the owner) was very welcoming, friendly and kind. I was on very limited time due to stopping by before work lol and definitely did not get to check out all they had. The store was smaller than I expected but it was jam packed with so many items and options. I know there was plenty of more spices, teas and I didn’t know at the time but the cashier also mentioned they sold injera. I cannot wait to go back for some injera as my partner and I usually have to order some through takeout at Blue Nile Restaurant. My partner was/is very delighted, satisfied and we made Tibs, Gomen, Silsi, and Ades soon as I brought home all I purchased that day. He’s already making a list of what all else I need to get when I’m there again. Lol I’m looking forward to actually planning my next visit, so I have more time to explore the store.
It's good experience have everything okay stuff is friendly.
If you like Injera bread, it is ready made here. Meats, spices., everything for making Ethiopian food. People are very friendly and helpful. Parking lot is very small and hard to get in & out of. I do love injersa bread & Ethiopian food. Sadly seeing it posted here suggests what your meat is.
Excellent market. They even sell cookware and shoes. Great products and phenomenal customer service. Very professional, kind and courteous owners. These people have been a blessing to both my family and the community in general.
the injera is so good, 100% would recommend to ANYONE and EVERYONE
